CONTIL Projects
The Construction Technology Innovation Lab(CONTIL) and its partners are proud to announce two new projects funded by the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement and National Research Foundation of Korea. The consortium is intended to shift the contemporary practices of the construction industry by adopting emerging technologies such as AI, VR/AR, BIM, wearable devices, and blockchain, etc.
Development of Safety Assurance Technology for Workers at Construction Sites
The intention of this project is to develop core technologies for ensuring worker's safety in the construction site such as Risk assessment, Job hazard analysis, Educational contents generation SW, Image-based job site modeling, AI-based automated risk recognition, Location tracking, Smart fabric-based health data measurement. It will lead active PDCA cycle, and CONTIL expects to reduce 25% of an accidental rates.

Vision Intelligence-based Construction Safety Management System
The purpose is to develop an effective image capturing logistics methods using various capturing devices (360 camera, Stereo camera, Lidar+RGB based depth measurement camera, etc.), Image recognition algorithm based dynamic risk (Worker, Vehicles, Risk area, Material, etc.) detection, AR+image processing based static risk(Temporary Safety Facilities) checking. CONTIL is experimenting image matching with real model and virtual model, and seeking the method to create virtual model from capturing devices.

Blockchain based Construction Safety & Quality Management Platform
Based on above project and technologies, CONTIL is researching integrated safety and quality management platform by using blockchain. Storing safety and quality information data with blockchain technology, the developing platform would reserve advantages of blockchain (Transaction efficiency, Traceability, Reliability, Automation) and it would propose the new way of management method different from present passive management system. For this, CONTIL is studying on connecting blockchain technology with information generating by above technologies. Also, measurement method for qualifying information in this platform is being studied.
Each 2 Projects are Funded by National Research Foundation of Korea
Establishment of Dataset for AI Image Analysis
CONTIL is developing artificial intelligence image analysis technology to detect dangerous behavior and situations of high place workers in advance and to fundamentally prevent accidents that may occur during high place operations. And the development and improvement of AI image analysis technology require a very large amount of learning data. For this, CONTL is building a massive dataset for the development and improvement of artificial intelligence image analysis technology.
Funded by National Information Society Agency of Korea
The consortium combines excellent research and development organizations from three South Korean cities with strong expertise in computer vision, wearable devices, digital twin technology, database monitoring and big data analysis.
The consortium is formed by 10 partners, including four Universities, 1 Research Institute, and five companies from Seoul, Pusan and Daegu.
